On the 3rd week of April, NAFTC Turkey Director Mr. Michael Westenberg and Cluster Manager Ms. Seda Buyuksolak were in Ankara to have a meeting with TSÜAB’s (Sub Union of Seed Industrialists and Producers) General Secretary, Mr. Tayfur Caglayan.
Purpose of this meeting was the introduction of NAFTC Turkey, understand the seeds market and a possible cooperation between both parties.
If a company wants to import and/or sell seeds in Turkey, it is compulsory to be a member of TSÜAB. Members can be local or foreign companies and seeds can be industrial or vegetables. The sub union was established in 2008 and since then they are working actively all over the world. They currently have 727 members and they are working actively and closely with the Ministry of Agriculture.
Seed registration and certification procedures in Turkey were discussed with Mr.Caglayan. Furthermore TSÜAB is planning new investments in laboratories and training activities.
Possible cooperation has been addressed and an agreement has been reached between TSÜAB and NAFTC Turkey. To increase the knowledge of Dutch companies about the Turkish market, its current players and possible opportunities, round table and B2B meetings were amongst other topics of discussion.
