Federation of Cold Storage Associations of India (FCAOI) organized a 3 day seminar cum exhibition from 5th to 7th July 2017 at Hotel Clarks Shiraz, Agar. Holland was associated as the partner country with the event for the second consecutive year.
Netherlands Agro Food & Technology Centre (NAFTC) was the supporting organization in the event & the Holland pavilion in the event was also managed by NAFTC-India. A total of 5 companies participated in the event through the country pavilion. The participating companies were:
1- Bayer CropScience Ltd
2- Bijlsma Hercules BV
3- HZPC Holland BV
4- Mooij Agro BV
5- Omnivent Techniek BV
The event started on 5th of July with a short media briefing & the launch of invitation poster. This was followed by a panel discussion & interaction with Business Standard on cold chain industry in India: Opportunities & Challenges.
The second day of the event was attended by some 1000 participants from across 16 states of India. The Chief Guest of the day was Hon’ble Minister of Agriculture, Government of UP Shri Surya Pratap Shahi.
The day started with a briefing from Shri Mahendra Swarup, President FCAOI followed by the welcome speech & presentation from Chairman NAFTC-India, Errol van Groenewoud. In his presentation Errol focused on the transformations in the Netherlands in last 50 years in the field of potato farming. He briefed about how NAFTC-India is acting as a bridge that connects Indian requirements with the Dutch expertise. He also briefed the opportunities & challenges in Indian market & how Indian industry can avoid making mistakes that Dutch industry made in last few decades. NAFTC-India Director, Prekash Ramsingh was also present in the event along with the representative of the Embassy of the Netherlands in New Delhi, Pooja Chaudhry.
The chief guest of the day Shri Surya Pratap Shahi in his speech focused on the policies of state government in the subjects related to potato storage, procurement & prices. He also mentioned about the support provided by the state for the construction of new storage facilities in the state.
The post-lunch session had 3 presentations from the partner country and some others from silver sponsors. The presentations from the partner country were given by:
1- Dr. Rakesh Singh: Omnivent Techniek BV
2- Willem Beimers: Bijlsma Hercules BV
3- Raminder Singh/Arvinder Singh: Solentum/HZPC Holland BV
The presentations were mostly focused on the products & technologies as per the Indian requirement and the USPs of the companies. Also companies briefed about the projects they have already completed in India and the projects under progress.
There was also a nice turnout in the exhibition and all the pavilion members received good amount of potential leads.
The chief guests on day 3 of the event were Prof Ramshanker Katheria, Member of Parliament from Agra and Shri Dara Singh Chauhan, Horticulture Minister, Government of UP.
This event day also witnessed huge audience turnout in the seminar as well as the exhibition. Prof Ramshanker Katheria in his speech focused on the role of central government in promoting storage facilities in India and he also promised to take up the issue of potato prices to the next level. Shri Dara Singh Chauhan mentioned that his government is committed towards the upliftment of farmer community in the state. He also briefed the state floated schemes for promoting storage facilities in the state.

Again the presentations were mostly focused on the products & technologies as per the Indian requirement and the USPs of the companies.
In his closing remarks Errol briefed the 2 days of the event. He mentioned how busy the pavilion companies were & they received some 75 potential business leads during the 2 days of the exhibition. He extended thanks to the federation for organizing such a successful event and also presented mementos to the leadership team of FCAOI.
Overall it was a successful event for all the participants and NAFTC will keep following the leads that member companies received during the exhibition days.
